The EdgeMate Pool Chair fits most in-ground swimming pools, but not all of them. And while no qualifying test is perfect, if you are able to answer yes to the following two questions, EdgeMate is likely to be compatible with your in-ground swimming pool.
EdgeMate is NOT compatible with: above ground pools, infinity-edge pools, tanning ledges, honed & polished travertine tile* pool decks or pools with a gutter.
*Based on extensive product testing, honed & polished travertine tile (when wet) do not provide the level of stability for the chair to perform to our standards.
Do you have a flat/level pool deck and coping?
Do you have a flat/ level (vertical) pool wall?
EdgeMate is suitable for use with a vinyl-liner, chlorine and salt water pools.
This is a profile view of a compatible pool. Notice, the support bar has complete contact with the level pool surface. Additionally, the uprights on the main frame (shown in purple above) run parallel to the pool wall. This creates two stable touch points. The chair must maintain contact with both the pool wall and deck at all times to function properly.
Due to the pool’s sloped coping, the pad on the support bar does NOT have complete contact with the pool surface. Therefore, the chair will NOT hold a stationary position.
Sitting in EdgeMate is no different than sitting in a conventional chair. While a swimmer’s height and water depth will vary, one should always make a point of sitting down into EdgeMate from inside the swimming pool.
If a swimmer has to step up on one foot (like they would a bar stool), they should position the chair in more shallow water.
